BIRTHDAY REFLECTIONS

ONE WOMAN BANDIT — I’m celebrating another year of life today and I’m thankful!

A lot of people have approached me to simply tell me that I’m beaming with light and that I appear to have such peace over me.

It’s true! I do feel at ease, my conscience is clear, I feel peace, strength, I feel loved and so blessed. I guess what I feel internally is showing on the outside. I tremble at the thought of how God has blessed me so much. I feel and know that he’s constantly after my heart.

As the years go by —  I think there were certain principles that I learned — but didn’t  acknowledge their value till I had to overcome some major life changes and hurdles this year. I made it through those experiences by embracing these points:

  • STAY FOCUSED ON WHAT MATTERS — In my heart of hearts, I’m a worshiper, a believer and I found that pleasing HIM is the only thing that matters. He hasn’t failed me yet!   From a worldly standpoint — being rich with materialistic items is the root of happiness.  Monetary things are fleeting and far less important than being wealthy in spirit, love and health.
  • DROP THE DEAD WEIGHT — As you get older hopefully it’s easier to let go of petty things that can weigh you down.  That includes your inner circle. I’ve met quite a few people throughout my life journey — and realize some people will come into your life and will only be there for a season. It’s easy to hold on to that relationship, job or point of view even though they are unhealthy for us — because of the fear of change. I have been guilty of that! I found that there is a far greater blessing on the other side when we simply let go! I’ve learned by getting burned– to draw the line in the sand and set boundaries to keep my peace.
  • EMBRACING THE LAWS OF ATTRACTION — In dropping the ‘dead weight’, I gained a refreshed outlook on what it means to walk in your purpose and calling. A friend recommended that I watch “The Secret” documentary on Netflix. It’s based on a popular book about the laws of attraction. It’s been floating out there for years and I’ve definitely studied the principles in church — but, I feel the documentary makes it more compelling. Oprah Winfrey did several series about it on her show. I had it on repeat for months. I became more aware and intentional about what I was putting in the atmosphere — and what I could reap from it.
